OLIVER PHOTO ART STUDIO

JOSÉ LUIS OLIVER AGUILLÓN

José Luis Oliver Aguillón's artistic career began when he was only 12 years old and made his first paintings. At 17, he won his first prize in the design of the STUNAM logo. A few months later, at 18, he collaborated with Telesistema Mexicano, working on making press announcements for various newspapers.

There, he also illustrated the first voyage of man on the moon and advertised programs such as El Club del Hogar, Family affair (Mis Adorables Sobrinos), The Green hornet (El Avispon Verde), El Gran Chaparral and Laramy among others. During that period, he worked on different advertising campaigns, including the Presidential campaign of Luis Echeverría Álvarez. From 1965 to 1970 he studied the career of BA in Advertising Drawing at UNAM and much of his inspiration came from the classrooms of the emblematic building of the Academia de San Carlos, in the center of Mexico City, where he was born.

Later he studied Graphic Design, with a specialty in Color Theory and a BA in Universal Art History.

During the 1968 Olympiad in Mexico, he worked alongside the Architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and the designer Lance Wyman, in the Organizing Committee of the XIX Olympic Games, receiving from the Architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez a special mention for the development of his graphic designs for said event and its outstanding participation.

We cannot fail to mention his contribution in different works such as logos, slogans, sideboard design, etc. for different advertising agencies such as McCann Erickson, Foote Con & Belding, Kenyon & Eckhardt, among others.

In 1976, he created, designed, directed, edited and distributed the first magazine on Ichthyology in Mexico, the Ocean Magazine. And in 1993, he did the same with the first magazine about ornamental fish, reptile birds, hamsters, dogs and cats: Splash Magazine, Acuarismo de Vanguardia. For both publications, he designed logos for different companies in the sector.

It should be noted that as an active member of the fish hobbist, he organized the first Aquarium and Pets Expo, which was held for 6 years.

For 24 years, he taught classes at the intermediate and higher level, in different chairs such as: Advertising, Perspective, Color Theory, Artistic Anatomy, International Tourism, Universal Tourist Geography, International Relations, Communication, Art History, History of Cultures, , Political, Social and Economic Problems of Mexico among others. And during all this time he relied on photography for teaching purposes.

In 1963 he started his own business "Oliver Servicios Publicitarios" winning different awards as a designer of logos, commercial stands, sideboards, etc.

2014 witnessed his growth as an artistic photographer as he fully devoted himself to this, his passion. And since then, he has had numerous commissions due to the high quality of his works and today he makes them available to anyone who likes Art Photography and Mexico, his native country.

There are many passions that characterize the author's works in their various expressions. And I speak of his passions because I consider that all of these, together with a full and intense life, are precisely those that originate and characterize his work.

He is an enthusiast of nature along with all the living beings that coexist in it. As a 3-star professional diver, he has an extraordinary and deep relationship with the sea as a large part of his life has been linked to it. He is a music lover who enjoys listening to each of the notes and instruments that make up a melody. Interested in physics reading Isaac Newton father of it, Albert Einstein and his theory of relativity Stephen Hawkins with his many theories about cosmology and his studies on black holes. But even more so, seductively attracted by the time-space relationship and his understanding of it. A fan of good food, women, Leonardo DaVinci, travel, chemistry and the many simple things in life….
